What is Fat Cavitation?

From the latest fat loss trends to vigorous exercise routines, to strict diets and beyond – it comes as no surprise that for many of us, losing stubborn pockets of fat and maintaining body goals can be confusing and challenging.

With liposuction being a costly and invasive solution to a problem so many of us face, fat cavitation is a ground-breaking alternative.

Ultrasonic fat cavitation is a revolutionary body shaping treatment that melts fat away and shapes the body for immediate centimetre loss without the extensive risks of traditional fat reduction techniques like liposuction.

How does Fat Cavitation work?

Fat Cavitation works using a low-frequency ultrasound which subjects fat cell membranes to a strong wave of pressure. The fat cells can’t withstand this pressure and turn into liquid, free fatty acids. The body then moves the fatty acids through the lymphatic system and the liver, to be naturally metabolised by the body. The result is immediate centimetre loss.

Areas that can be treated include:
Abdomen, Love handles, Inner thighs, Outer thighs, Buttocks, and Arms.

Is this for me?

Do you find that irrespective of how well your diet is, or how much you exercise, you still retain stubborn pockets of fat on your body? Fat Cavitation may well be the treatment for you.

This treatment is perfect for anyone who wants to eliminate stubborn pockets of fat from larger areas of their body, areas that have more than 3cms of fat, or that are hard to grab. Fat Cavitation can also be used in conjunction with other treatments we offer such as Skin Tightening, Tesla Muscle Definer, and Cryolipolysis Fat Freezing to give you the best results.

At Body Catalyst, we are here to help you achieve your body goals and help you to feel comfortable in your own skin.

What's the difference between Fat Freezing and Fat Cavitation?

While fat cavitation and fat freezing are both non-invasive fat loss treatments, there is a noticeable difference between the two. Both procedures are designed to reduce stubborn fat, but they work in different ways. Fat freezing essentially ‘freezes’ pockets of stubborn fat to permanently eliminate and kill fat cells for good. Fat cavitation targets fat cells by using ultrasound waves to release stored fat to liquid, free fatty acids which are then metabolised by the body and used for energy. The result is immediate centimetre loss.

The treatment involves the use of a paddle-type applicator, which is massaged over the area being treated. You can treat larger areas, which is another key difference between fat cavitation and fat freezing, as fat freezing is generally only suitable for smaller, and more targeted pockets of fat. If the fat is harder to grab, or spread over a larger area of the body, then fat cavitation may well be a better option for you. At your inital consultation, our body experts will advise which treatment is the best option for you and your body goals.

Frequently asked questions

Which areas can be treated by Cavitation?

Any area of the body that has more than 3cms of fat. Mainly stomach, thighs, flanks, buttocks, back, and calves.

Where does the fat go?

After disruption of adipose cells, the fat in the form of triglycerides is released into the interstitial fluid between the cells, where they are enzymatically metabolized to glycerol and free fatty acids. Water-soluble glycerol is absorbed by the circulatory system and used as the energy source, whereas the insoluble free fatty acids are transported to the liver and processed as fatty acids from food.

Is fat cavitation safe?

Yes. The treatments are non-invasive – meaning the treatment does not penetrate the skin so there is no risk of infection or complication. All our therapists are highly trained and qualified in performing the treatment, and unlike traditional surgery, the risks are few and far between. Please speak to your experienced therapist during your consultation to ensure you’re suitable for the treatment and to discuss any concerns you might have around the procedure.

When will I start to see results?

You will start seeing results immediately but for lasting results, a course of 10 treatments is recommended, with at least three days in between each procedure.

Does fat cavitation hurt?

Not at all. Our clients consider the treatment to be painless and comfortable. Some clients may experience a little warmth during the treatment, but not to a level of pain or discomfort.

How long each treatment take?

Each session lasts for 40 minutes.

What are the side effects of fat cavitation?

There are no major side effects, you may experience some redness in the treated area after the treatment, but these symptoms should resolve themselves within an hour or so.

Can fat cavitation damage organs?

The simple answer is no. Ultrasonic Cavitation destroys intractable fat cells by using low-frequency sound waves, this type of sound wave is designed to destroy fat cells, and it does so without causing damage to any other tissues or organs.

Who should avoid Fat Cavitation?

Anyone with medical or health problems should avoid it. Including problems such as heart or liver disease, should avoid fat cavitation and if you’re nursing or pregnant, you won’t be suitable for the treatment. Those who have medical implants in the body such as cochlear implants, pacemakers, are also unsuitable. Any health or medical issues you might have should be raised in your consultation to ensure that you’re an appropriate candidate before the fat cavitation treatment commences. If fat cavitation proves to be the wrong treatment for you, our body experts will create a treatment plan available for your body goals.
